ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH SERVICES, INC., TEMPE, AZ  1/01—6/01
Associate Archaeologist

    Various Projects in the Phoenix Area

Supervision of crews of between four and eight workers.  Conducted numerous small survey projects, including specialized surveys for cellular telephone antenna installations.  Extensive use of writing skills in preparation of technical reports.  Use of various software applications, including WordPerfect, Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and Terrain Navigator.  Some background research conducted at the AZ State Historic Preservation Office in Phoenix, as well as the Phoenix Bureau of Land Management and other government agency offices in the Phoenix area.  Also, general office administrative duties and coordination of project paperwork.

Supervision of a 6-member field crew during mitigation for ENRON pipeline between Bullhead City, AZ and Farmington, NM

Most of the work was on historic sites, including Goldroad, AZ (20th century gold mining town) and historic Navajo sites.  Also work at several Anasazi and Archaic sites.  Job included transit mapping of sites and significant participation in sampling decisions.

Assistant Crew Chief duties; excavating and some survey work at a variety of sites in Southern and Central Utah.

Responsibilities were supervision of crews of up to 10 – 12 crewmembers, and coordinated most of the field data and paperwork for several sites.  Other work included use of the transit, writing site treatment and Historic Register eligibility recommendations, and locating sites using aerial photos and topographic maps.
